Software Developer Jason Brock Receives Degree with the Help of IDS’s Tuition Reimbursement Program

Jason BrockIDS is proud to recognize another employee who has earned a college degree with the help of the company’s tuition reimbursement program.  Software developer Jason Brock recently graduated from the University of Phoenix with a degree in Information Technology, majoring in Software Engineering.  What makes this achievement impressive is that Jason managed to complete his degree in four years while juggling the demands of working full time at IDS and raising a family.

It’s an impressive feat,” said IDS Research & Development Manager Don Zytaruk.  “Not only did Jason balance his school and work life, at no time did his work or productivity suffer.  He is a fine example to everyone within and outside of IDS.”

Jason began his IDS career in April of 2004 when he was hired to join Zytaruk the R&D team.  In 2008, Jason decided it was time to advance his career path and improve the life of his family.  He made the decision to go back to school and IDS, a division of Constellation Dealership Software, was willing to help by offering to pay half of his tuition.  In order to fulfill his duties with his family and IDS, Jason chose to complete his degree online.

“The most challenging aspect of going to school full time and working full time was balancing it with my family at home,” said Jason.  “My family is the primary reason that I decided to go to school online as it allowed me to check my coursework from anywhere that had internet access.  This was very beneficial to me because I often have a rapidly changing schedule.  Being able to go to class throughout the week when I had a few hours to sit down was incredibly helpful.”

With his coursework complete, Jason plans to continue his software development career for IDS with thoughts of possibly branching out to help additional Constellation companies as well. When asked if he has any advice for others looking to continue their education while working full-time, Jason states, “The best piece of advice I can give to anyone who wants to go to school while working full time is to be committed. Do not commit to going to school if you are not ready to commit to the process. Many people I went to school with dropped out because they were not able to find the time or make the time to finish what they signed up for.”

The IDS family congratulates Jason Brock on his outstanding achievement!
